First cook out of the season

Tonight we had our first cook out in the back yard. We had fun roasting hot dogs over the fire and then following it with s'mores.

Having fun doing school work

Weekend trip to General Butler State Park

The first weekend of March we went on a hiking trip to General Butler State Park with the Louisville Hiking Club. Ron and Melanie had a good time hiking even though it was very muddy. Melanie, who doesn't like anything muddy or dirty even had a good time. They were also lucky enough to see a number of deer. Here are some pictures that were taken by someone in the club.

February update

So much for me trying to post something on a daily basis.

Nothing exciting happened in the month of February. Melanie continues do to very well in school. She is enjoying being home schooled. I am amazed at the things she is learning in kindergarten -- her subjects are math, phonics, language arts, history, science, and art. Ron says it sounds like his schedule in high school.

She is also doing very well in her swim lessons. She has moved up a couple of levels and is able to swim about 8 laps in the pool at the Gamble-Nippert YMCA.

We celebrated Valentine's Day and she helped decorate the cake we had for a Valentine's dinner.
